10 Ways to Detoxify Your Mind and Body

Detoxification is a period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances. Often referred to as “detox”, it is not just important, it is absolutely critical for your health and well-being.

The idea of detoxifying one’s body may be daunting as it is often associated with drastic dietary changes, exercise, and self-control. On the other hand, a deep massage using a quality detoxing body oil would provide instant detoxification and relaxation.

Exercise helps detoxify your body in many ways. Firstly, it promotes circulation. It also improves your muscles and organs (especially lungs and kidneys) to function at an optimum level — which means less toxin production. Proper exercise also helps produce endorphins, the “happy hormones”.

Before you pop pills, try naturopathy or home remedies first when you’re feeling under the weather. This is not saying that conventional (modern) medicines are ineffective however, drugs can be toxic and hard on the liver.

Super food are nutrient-rich food that are especially beneficial for one’s health and well-being. Most are plant-based thus natural and helpful in the detoxifying process. Majority of super food are rich in antioxidants and they are surprisingly delicious as well!

Stress disturbs the body’s homeostasis. If you are constantly stressed out, your body produces stress hormones such as cortisol and other toxins. Manage stress effectively through meditation. Learn meditation techniques and apply them. Yoga is a great way to deal with stress.

10) Fiber and Probiotics

Fiber-rich food and probiotics help clean your digestive system. Both are essential cleansing and a staple part of many detox diet. They help you pass waste easier and more efficiently. Digestive health is a major part of detoxifying.
