Tahini Paste for Health and Weight Loss

Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds. Sesame seeds, as you might already know, are packed with vitamins and minerals especially the type with outer hull intact.

Removing the hull also removes most of its nutrients.

Tahini is considered to be one of the oldest condiments in the world and plays an important role in cooking sweet and savory cuisines particularly in the past. Using Tahini now is definitely a very good thing since this paste offers amazing health benefits like other super foods such as walnuts, flax seed, and others.


Tahini sauce or paste has been a popular staple food in Middle Eastern dishes. It is used as a primary ingredient in most hummus recipes. Hummus is a Levantine creamy dip made from cooked, mashed chickpeas, and blended with other healthy ingredients.

Thousand years ago, history tells that Tahini was considered a food worthy of the gods, that’s why it is always served to royalties.

It has become available in most health food stores and supermarkets globally at around 19th century and included in most recipes in different restaurants.

Tahini has 20 percent higher complete protein compared to other nuts and seeds. Its high oil content makes it creamier while its nutty flavor provides a very pleasant flavor to the palate just like peanut butter, and is safe to eat even if you have some nut allergies.

Protein is an essential macro nutrient which is very important for muscle repair and building.

High in Good Fats
Sesamin and sesamolin are minor fat components present in sesame oil and both benefit the heart in many ways — such as regulating blood pressure and cholesterol level.

Tahini is rich in cholesterol-lowering phytosterols too. Some used phytosterols to treat arteriosclerosis, a cardiovasuclar disease characterized by fatty buildup within the arteries.
